We love our jewelry to be a conversation starter- beautiful and meaningful. Super flattering, super elegant, and rife with symbolism and mythology, these exquisite earrings are truly a jewelry connoisseur's delight. The left earring features a miniature painting of Ganesha while the right, of Lakshmi. Because, wisdom and wealth, belong together.
Trivia: The goddess of wealth, fortune, power, health, love, beauty, joy, and prosperity, and associated with maya ("Illusion"), Lakshmi is one of the principal goddesses in Hinduism.
Knowing that Lakshmi did not stay in one place for long and hence not in an ideal position to take care of her son, it is said that Goddess Parvati, was reluctant to let Lakshmi adopt Her son, Ganesha*. But Lakshmi assured her and when Parvati finally agreed, an elated Lakshmi said that She will bestow Ganesha with all Her accomplishments and prosperity. Those worshipping Lakshmi for wealth would first have to worship Ganesha to seek Her blessings. Those who worship Lakshmi without Ganesha wouldn't be blessed by the Goddess. Because without wisdom, wealth can’t stay with one long. Hence, Lakshmi and Ganesha are always worshipped together, especially on Diwali.
*Readily identified by his elephant head, Ganesha is widely revered as the remover of obstacles; the patron of arts and sciences; and the deva (god)of intellect and wisdom.
Dimensions: 6.6 cm long and 2.8 cm at the widest. Push-post closure.
In a quaint home-cum-studio in Rajasthan, each miniature is deftly painted, using centuries-old techniques. Please allow for minor variations in the artwork and color, in keeping with their hand-painted nature.
