A destroyer of evil forces, Kali, a Hindu goddess, is considered the most powerful form of Shakti. Seen as the divine protector and the one who bestows moksha/liberation, she destroys the evil in order to protect the innocent.
Zoom in and you'll notice the stunning level of detail that the masterful strokes of the miniature artist have managed to fit in the 2 cm by 2 cm square. Depicted as blue per popular folk art traditions, Her eyes red with intoxication and rage, hair disheveled, and the characteristic tongue lolling. Also seen- Khadga (crescent-shaped sword/giant sickle) in a raised hand, and a garland consisting of human heads. The sword signifies divine knowledge and the head signifies the human ego which must be slain by divine knowledge, in order to attain moksha.
